Undefeated super welterweight prospect Neeco “Rooster” Macias stole the night on Sept. 1 at Fantasy Springs as he demolished six-time Mexican national champion, Marvin Cabrera and gave him his first pro career loss. Golden Boy commentators and boxing fans all over social media raved about the high-energy southpaw as he threw a total of 1,119 punches in six rounds before Cabrera’s corner stopped the one-sided bout.
Monday afternoon, Golden Boy Promotions took to Twitter to announce Macias had joined the Golden Boy Boxing’s stable of prospects.
“We are thrilled to officially announce the signing of “The Rooster” Neeco Macias!! We can’t wait for more exciting fights. Welcome to the #GoldenBoy family! #TeamMacias”

Though some boxing fans are skeptic Macias will reach an elite level, most agree he is a valuable addition to Golden Boy as they transition to Facebook Fight Nights. As a high-volume, entertaining fighter, Macias is sure to draw more fans to watch the Facebook streams until maybe the repetitive statement from their ring announcer saying “millions watching around the world” actually becomes true.
